hm...

i was hoping for more... some of the stuff was pretty impressive, but still, some stuff was pretty disapointing. Many of your movies were in need of revision.. i owuld have to say Kaos was the winner of this movie. and too bad for yoshi-1up because a solo TT will have a VERY hard time making it.

i would've liked to see you guys put a little more effort into it because this as a sprite movie needed to show a little bit more. The animation on the whole was par, but the graphics weren't very good or consistant for the individuals, sound was done all right but throughout all of these, the animation techniques were kinda cheap and i was hoping for a little more originality..

nice attempt boys, but... i didn't suit me.

i love it

great, i love how you can make fun of NG and other big-shot characters like that, especially kerrigan, LF, and the others... wadolf was funny and the whole thing is just a big messy, sloppy, distateful... something... ha ha.. it made me laugh, even though the animation wasn't at its greatest, i loved the concept the best... wll done... the music was good, but i would suggest a little more effort on some animation, backgrounds, and characters.... god tho...

you pwned today.

no no no...

It's a shame that you have gotten front-page (although i congratulate you none-the-less) because of awful presentation.
So many graphical errors as far as technicality. Objects popping out of nowhere, the background in half the movie had that white line on the left side tho show the 'defalt' background, which was REALLY bad in my eyes...
I don't judge on music, so i'm pretty neutral about that, although it didn't sync well at all. You cut a lot of corners and used a lot of cheap techniques to draw out time like running up the wall (in which all bombs DID NOT EXPLODE, just disapeared). or Bowser's clown ship, the propeller just spinning there for a while, and bowser not movies.... 1/2 of this was a slide show.
AGH! The graphics were fair, but u had arms that were just tweened and many animation shortcuts in which made this look like one big tween project with nice shading. You may be able to trick the 'lower' classes of NG views who don't do flash and vote blindly, but not some of the people who knows what go into flash.
I could see every corner, every technique that you've done, which is, to me a pity, because you can do so much more, or so it seems.
I was highly disapointed by this work and expected better from you... the syncing was bad, the animation, cheap-ish, and just bad compilation on the whole.
1/5

you are a good animator, but this just wasn't one of ur good ones. i didn't care for it much.
best of luck on the next one.

nope...

from a technical standpoint this was sloppy and poorly comprised. The sprite sheets for the background even skipped in the begining! As a matter of fact, the music looped poorly, the action was horrible. You even used the most primitive of gradients for the lasers!
The text was boring and didn't flow well... erm... bad grammar too.
I was very disapointed as to what was going on, why things happened, and the whole presentation of the matter. Bad backgrounds, unimaginative story, and overall bad flow of things.
Very unasuring and i'm not quite sure how this got daily 1st when others are much better. It's a shame, but it's how i feel: Disapointed. Ugh, it moved may too slow and was 2 MIN LONG? agh! you barely put anything in this.

I'm sorry, this earns a 1/5 from me, this showed no effort at all.

SquareHard responds:

sorry it came out choppy, im still new to flash, it runs jus fine before i export it, then it jus goes to hell >.<, thx for the review tho, i will try to put something better for u on the next one, and also, u have to watch the previous 4 episodes, or ull get confused where the storylines going, thats why u probably didnt like it

hm... didn't appreciate it...

A lot, a lot of these showed a lack of effort. some looked good, great even in some spots, but many of them were about 7-10sec movie slips that prolly could take about 10 min to do. I wasnt' very impressed with this latest installment. Lots of eye-candy all over the place, but no real concept and no real point. I was disapointed on that aspect. Although many of artists showed some talent, on the whole, it didn't sync very well, some of the music loops looped horribly, and well, i pick out little things like that, and to me, messed the whole flow of the movie.
I would suggest setting rules and regulations and sticking to them as well as picking an elite few (7 perhaps?) so that you can some-what filter quality, because some of these looked like crap and brought the other things down... on the whole... not collab'd so well... i was expecting more time, effort, and quality.
best of luck on the next one.

SeizureDog responds:

10 mins? :o man I wish...

But yeah, eye candy was kinda THE point I guess. It's sortof....artish methinks.

None of the musics (well, one did) looped o_O, so I fail to see how they " looped horribly"

And if these artists didn't meet your standrad for "elite artists" then I imagine you expect me to acquire talent like LegendaryFrog or Tommy can for their collabs. Hey, I'm not THAT good myself. I have to stick with equals.

But in any case, we had fun, and we got an award. I can't really ask for much more really.

hm...

Wayyyyy too short... not so good a plot, and overall, cheap with the graphics copied and pasted over and over again so it's the same guy standing... A lot of short-cuts taken on this flash. Probably the worst parts of this movie were the short-cuts, the backgrounds (lazy, it seems when, WHEN, quality was set to medium), and the plot.
however, the graphics were much improved and overall, the animation base was fantastic. Iliked the 1st better because the priest and the story which set it up, but because there was little of anything in this episode.. i didn't care for it much. i hope you can put the pieces together better in the next ep.

well made...

despite little action, i care more for story anyways... and although it's a little... odd... it's neat to see you guys pulled ahead with it. The sounds and music were excellent and the best aspect next to the style...

not writting up to the level of old FF's but i liked it....

try and have more animation techniques that you make rathjer than taken sprites... i always think all those fire dance one's are sloppy...

good work tho... keep at it.

Tootbook responds:

Thanks man, we appreciate it :)

Well made...

I always saw this as somethign that stands out from the rest of a lot of sprite animations I see. The writting, and plot, for that matter is much better, although some parts are a little redundant and some spelling errors...
It shows effort, I like that, especially the rpg aspect to it... a little linear, but good. The graphics, and animation techniques are vastly improved from the last, although you could deal with a bit more diversity on the running...
The intro was alright, it works fine, just the repeating background urked me a little.
Also, the sound was a tad repetative.
The images were well made, and the battle animations were far abover average to the usual sprite movie. Very well made, and good presentation. I could still stand to see you get some more sound effects...
As always, the music was well chosen and I hope to help you write this time! ;) sorry, i had my movie (TT) to work on like crazy.

But in the end, this gets my 5/5 because it is an intersting take and a very cool submision overall with much effort being shown for such a short ammount of time to make it.

Mangna cum laude!

BlackDevilX responds:

WHY!!! i told you not to mention that!!!

Well done

Good fbf, but may i suggest only have what needs to move be fbf, and the static background stay the same. it saves some file space and could be better.

But good work, i can't give u a high score because, well, this isn't a movie!
but keep up the good work, lookin good so far.

FLiXD responds:

Yup that's fair enough. I will lose the background wobble. Thanks for taking the time to write a review

I didn't care for it much...

Basically, right now, it's just the same thing over and over. Sure, there are variations and such, but you failed in the one department of which i care about most in animations: effort.
After about 100 or so of these, you look like your just f'king around rather than puting some genuine effort into it. I don't appreciate it.
Also, it's steaming me as to how you can actually be cocky after these movies. I'll admit that clay-mation is prolly tough, but so is animation. And i see no right for you to really criticize animation as you do when u never do it! The audio was all right in this one, but you have such monotone themes that it really gets boring after watching about.... 5.
So my advice to you is that if you're gonna be high and mighty artist, you better be prepared to take tougher criticism. Because the better we get, the more is expected, and i've seen little improvement over the past 10-20-30 movies.
And because of this aspect, i didn't care too much for this movie either. Like you said to legendary frog, (just your horrible writting!!)
So i think before you start going around telling people what's all good in flash, i'd like to see you do things more professionally.
You can'r hide behind your good name forever. All of the Romans fell slowly.

I've been coming to Newgrounds since about 1997, when the best score was 3.63 (fun fact). Things sure have changed since then. I used to animate...but I probably won't anymore. I revisit sporadically. I left my crap up here as a way to look at the past.
